My name is Andrea, and I have Congestive Heart Failure.

Does congestive heart failure (CHF) sound like a death sentence? When I first heard the diagnosis, I thought it meant I would die. Kaput! Done for! After all, if your heart fails, you die!

To my surprise, I learned the condition is treatable. I’m not done for, I CAN live!

But wait a minute, just hold on…  Does it seem like life would be over with the low sodium diet and activity restrictions? It did to me! I love food. I love bacon, eggs, and pancakes on a Saturday morning, and now I can’t eat that because it would be suicide? No, really! The shortness of breath, headache, bloating, and nausea that comes from eating too much salt would make death almost welcome. Almost. But I have a lot of living left to do! I found foods that are safe and taste great too.

CHF turned my life upside down. Yet upside down isn’t so bad – just different. Follow my Seriously Salty journey through life!

What My Friends Say…

Follow me on social media!

Obstacles can be roadblocks to many of us, but Andrea uses obstacles as a catapult into new journeys. I often feel as though I’m Toto to her Dorothy, following along on crazy adventures. Together we laugh, we cry, and we’re frequently amazed by the things we learn along the way!

- Jeanette (my BFF)

I’m not sure why she put her life on the internet. I wanted to know how she was doing, but I meant for her to call me, not create a website and YouTube channel.

- Susan (my mom!)

Our lives changed drastically when Andrea was diagnosed. I was scared of losing her. But we’ve found ways to have just as much fun as we did before.

- Kenny (my husband)
